I think there's some confusion here. "Formulas inherit..." has always been how Notes worked. If you want "fields" to inherit values, then you set formulae in those fields to inherit / manipulate the data from the selected document -- as I described in my original response,
If you have no code in the relevant field(s) to do this, then you won't inherit anything, obviously. If the field is editable, then place the formula in the "Default value" field option. Otherwise, if the field is computed, then place the formula in the "Value" option for that field.
